From bench to bus stop: Building HIV Research Collaborations in Philadelphia

Scientists, clinicians, and community based organizations in Philadelphia have been actively engaged in HIV/AIDS related research since the earliest days of the epidemic. Today, more than 175 investigators in Philadelphia are conductIng HIV/AIDS related research.   While research collaborations have always been valued, given the current funding environment, research collaborations may now be a necessity in achieving critical advances in behavioral, clinical, and basic science.  In an effort to promote opportunities for collaborations among local HIV/AIDS researchers, a one-day conference dedicated to HIV/AIDS research in Philadelphia will enable investigators from different disciplines, institutions, and agencies to gain awareness of and network with each other.   The primary objectives of the conference are to increase awareness of current and planned AIDS research in Philadelphia and to provide an opportunity for networking. Representative talks will be presented in the morning session followed by a lunch talk.  An afternoon poster session will facilitate interactions among researchers from different institutions and government agencies to produce a collaborative research agenda for future applications.

The wait is over. A Philadelphia citywide HIV/AIDS Research Conference that provides an update of the science, highlights local talent, and provides a networking/collaborative opportunity.
